Journal of Urban and Regional Analysis (JURA), edited by Prof. Ioan Ianoș (CICADIT) and Prof. Ronan Paddison (University of Glasgow), received the 2018 Prize of the University of Bucharest Senate for the best journal in the field of Life and Earth Sciences.
Dr. Florentina-Cristina Merciu attended the International Conference Mining and Underground Museums, organized by Cracow Saltworks Museum Wieliczka, in Wieliczka and Bochnia, Poland, during the period 18-22 November 2018. The presented paper is based on the results of CNCS – UEFISCDI project: PN-III-P1-1.2-PCCDI-2017-0686 (project director: Prof. PhD.Ioan Ianoș).

During 26 January-05 February 2018, Prof. Ioan Ianoș visited Basrah University (Irak), where he also presented two scientific papers:

The Master Program Smart Territorial Development won the Grand Prize of the Senate of the University of Bucharest for the Most innovative university/postuniversity program section.
The Master Program was realized by CICADIT, Faculty of Geography, University of Bucharest, during the EU funded program: POSDRU 156/1.2/G/141260, in collaboration with the Faculty of Urban Planning, Ion Mincu University of Architecture and Urbanism.
Dr. Natașa Văidianu participated to the COST Action Ocean Governance for Sustainability International Symposium, during 15-17 November 2017, organized by La Laguna University and the IEO/Oceanographic Centre of Canary Island, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Tenerife, Spain.
During the three days of the event, dr. Natașa Văidianu was actively involved in the organizing of the event, being the Romanian representative in the Management Committee and co-leader/moderator for one of the six Working Groups - WG1 Land-Sea Interactions, together with Prof. Achim Schluter, Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research, Bremen, Germany.
During the WG1 workshop, the team conducted by dr. Natașa Văidianu presented the paper: Managing Coastal Resources and Uses Through Multi-Scale Governance Structures in Romania. The study is based on the results of two research projects: PN-II-RU-TE-2014-4-2479 - project director: dr. Natașa Văidianu, and Era.Net Rus-Plus BS STEMA 42/2016.

Irina Florea-Saghin participated, during 9-12 October 2017, to the European Week of Regions and Cities, Brussels, event debating the regional and urban policy of the European Union.
Natașa Văidianu participated to the conference IMBIZO 5: Marine biosphere research for a sustainable ocean. Linking ecosystems, future states and resource management, organized at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Woods Hole, Massachusetts, USA, in the period 28 September - 08 October 2017.

URBAN CLIMATE SUMMER SCHOOL
CICADIT, together with the Research Institute of University of Bucharest (ICUB), the Urban Climate Research Center at Arizona State University (ASU), the Urban Water Innovation Network (ASU-CSU), and the Society for Urban Ecology (SURE), organises, during 21-26 August 2017, the Urban Climate Summer School, adressed to doctoral and post-doctoral students in urban climatology.

During 15-17 March 2017, Natașa Văidianu attended the 2nd International Conference on Marine/Maritime Spatial Planning, organised by UNESCO Paris, in collaboration with the European Commision - DG MARE. One of the workshops resulted in a joint roadmap for the global marine/maritine spatial planning processes (MSP).

During 6-8 martie 2017, Natașa Văidianu attended, as national representative of Romania and co-chair of Land-Sea Interactions working group, the 2nd Management Committee Meeting of COST Action

A new editorial release of Springer - Global Change and Human Mobility (2016) - includes the study: "Causal Relationships Between Economic Dynamics and Migration: Romania as Case Study", Author: Prof. PhD. Ioan Ianoș.
During 17-21 August 2015, CICADIT participated to the IGU Regional Conference, at Lomonosov State University, Moscow, Russia. Two members of CICADIT - dr. Natașa Văidianu and dr. Mirela Paraschiv - received IGU Travel Grants. CICADIT is very satisfied that these are the only winning applications from Central and Eastern Europe.
Wednesday, 15 July 2015, Prof. Ioan Ianoș attended the Workshop "Sustainable development strategy of Arges County - Smart Region Arges 2015", organized by Arges County Council, at the initiative of SMARTER (Smart Territorial Development Cluster), whose member is the Professional Association of Romanian Geographers (APGR).

Conferinţa de lansare a proiectului "GeoPlanning"

CICADIT vă invită la conferinţa de lansare a proiectului POSDRU/156/1.2/G/141105 “Inovarea şi creşterea calităţii în învăţământul superior geografic prin dezvoltarea unor ghiduri ca instrumente metodologice şi didactice în domeniul planificării şi dezvoltării teritoriale”.
Proiectul este cofinanţat din Fondul Social European prin Programul Operaţional Sectorial Dezvoltarea Resurselor Umane 2007 – 2013, în cadrul Axei prioritare 1 “Educaţia şi formarea profesională în sprijinul creşterii economice şi dezvoltării societăţii bazate pe cunoaştere”.
La eveniment vor participa reprezentanţi ai instituţiilor de învăţământ superior din România, reprezentanţi ai angajatorilor (din instituţii publice şi firme private) şi membri ai asociaţiilor profesionale.
The Honors Committee of Regional Development and Planning (RDPSG) of Association of American Geographers (AAG) has selected Prof. Ioan Ianos as the recipient of 2014 Distinguish Scholar award.

În cadrul proiectului POSDRU 86/1.2/S/57462, cu titlul: ,,Optimizarea procesului de inserție a absolvenților din domeniul geografie pe piața forței de muncă”, au fost propuse șase noi ocupații pentru includerea acestora în Clasificarea Ocupațiilor din România:
- consilier dezvoltare locală și regională
- geomatician
- geomorfolog
- expert localizare
- manager consorțiu turistic
- promotor local.
Cele șase noi ocupații vor fi publicate în Monitorul Oficial, Partea 1 (în următorul Ordin comun al Ministrului Muncii, Familiei, Protecției Sociale și Persoanelor Vârstnice și al Președintelui Institutului Național de Statistică), urmând ca până atunci codurile să poate fi folosite cu titlu provizoriu:consilier dezvoltare locală și regională – 242229; geomatician –216509; geomorfolog – 211441; expert localizare – 263219; manager consorțiu turistic – 263218; promotor local – 263220.
Pe data de 08 octombrie 2013, a avut loc ceremonia de decernare a titlului de Doctor Honoris Causa domnului Prof. univ. dr. Ioan Ianoș, directorul CICADIT, în cadrul Universității Ștefan cel Mare din Suceava.
PhD Ioan Ianoș, Director of CICADIT, participated at the first public meeting on the Romanian regionalization and descentralization process. Within the conference organised by the Ministry of Regional Development on April 2, 2013, Prof. Ioan Ianoș presented the topic: "Fundamentals of Romanias regionalization process".
