2H2S International Seminar "Entrepreneurial Initiatives and Regional Development. International comparisons"
, the XIIth edition, with the theme: "Entrepreneurial Initiatives, Regional Development and Decentralization".

Period: 22-28 September 2013
Organizers: University of Bucharest - CICADIT, Professional Association of Romanian Geographers, "Ștefan cel Mare" University of Suceava, "Vasile Goldiș" Western University of Arad, University of Angers (France).

The XIIth 2H2S International Seminar "Entrepreneurial Initiatives, Regional Development and Decentralization" took place between 22 and 28 September 2013 in Bucharest and Suceava.

The conference was attended by a numerous group of researchers from the European Union (University of Bucharest, West University of Timisoara, University of Suceava, University of Angers, University of Glasgow, University of Bamberg, University of Valencia, University Santiago de Compostela, Autonomous University of Barcelona, University of Tubingen, von Thunen Institute, University of Gdansk, University Mediterranea of Reggio Calabria, Kazimierz Wielki University, University of Castellon, University of Lyon), Republic of Moldova (Moldavian Science Academy) and United States of America (Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania, South Dakota State University).

This scientific reunion is part of a series of 12 seminaries, organized by the European Consortium of Research in Human and Social Sciences (2H2S). The first seminary took place in February 2001 in Angers (France), and the others were organized alternatively in Germany, Spain, Italy and Romania.

Program

Opinions of the participants about the 2013 2H2S Seminar:

Francesco Bonsinetto (University Mediterranea of Reggio Calabria): "2H2S Consortium is such a big family, an innovative and crucial “laboratory of ideas” in which PhD students and young researchers can learn many things and share ideas in a way that will advance their thinking. Definitely I have gained culturally and personally. I wish that all those who devote their time and efforts to this project will continue to organize similar events."

Valerià Paul Carril (University Santiago de Compostela): "The event was a lovely week to know magnificient landscapes and lots of socio-economic issues in North-Eastern Romania, together with scientists of a broad range of countries in a permanent and fruitful environment to discuss."

Antoni Tulla (Autonomous University of Barcelona): "We have enjoyed very much the seminar and the comradeship of the group. We have learnt many things, we have known a new interesting areas of Romania and we had a nice week. Thank you very much to invite us and to have the opportunity to joint all of you in this "Geography road seminar". In my opinion, the system to discuss more than to to presentations was successful and very useful."

Lucian Brujan (University of Tubingen): "We had a very interesting seminar in Romania, focusing on a up-to-date thematic, which was accompanied by a manifold social programme (like for instance having lunch in a medieval monastery or meeting new colleagues, just to point out some). The focus on debates with short input-presentations, rather than on lectures, was indeed a new and – in my modest opinion – quite suitable format for such an itinerant seminar. We were also able to (re)discover one of the most beautiful and diverse regions of Romania, the Bucovina. We learned about the problems of stakeholders “on site”, which can sometimes be quite different than the ones debated by academia. Furthermore, we alsosaw tangible examples of initiative on local level, showing that things can also work positively."

Cătălina Ancuța (West University of Timisoara): "We appreciated a lot the new formula of discussions, the very interesting itinerary accross the country (offering us numerous issues for reflection), the meetings with local actors - entrepreneurs and authorities - , and last but not least - the kindness and efficiency of the hosts."
